The McCarthy Bridge Grant is a one-time, $6,000 grant for College & Career Pathway students who plan to continue their college degree or certification training at Renton Technical College (RTC).

How do I know if I’m eligible for the McCarthy Bridge Grant?
You are eligible if you...
- Are currently enrolled and taking classes as a College & Career Pathways (CCP) student at RTC.
- Have completed at least two quarters of CCP courses.
- Plan to transition from CCP and enroll in a college degree or certification program at RTC.
Do I have to take certain CCP courses to qualify for the McCarthy Bridge Grant?
No. All high school completion, English learning, College Preparation courses including the Bridge to Composition, and the Bridge to Healthcare, IT, and Automotive programs are included. You just need to have completed at least two quarters of CCP classes.
How do I apply?
The application is completed online through the RTC Foundation website. Click on the “Apply Now” button to setup a password-protected account. Once your account is setup, you will have access to the grant application questions. The application asks that you have a recommendation from one of your CCP instructors.
How do I request a recommendation from my instructor?
The request email is embedded in the grant application. Just fill out the name and email of your instructor and click “send request.” Your instructor will receive an email with a link to the recommendation which is in a survey format. You will see the word “completed” once your instructor completes their recommendation and uploads it to your application.
When is the McCarthy Bridge Grant application available?
Grants are awarded on a first-come, first served basis to eligible CCP students. Grant applications open for a set timeframe for Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. We recommend that you apply for a McCarthy Bridge Grant the quarter before you plan to transition to your college or career training program.
How do I know if I’ve received the McCarthy Bridge Grant?
Once you submit a completed grant application, we will review and notify you via the email address you provide in your application.
I’ve completed one quarter of CCP courses but am ready to start my college program. Are there tuition funds available for me?
