We call the kitchen the “heart of the home,” and for Renton Technical College’s Culinary Arts program, the kitchen is at the heart of training excellence for students.
That is why plans are underway for an $110,000 retrofit and upgrades to the RTC kitchen during summer break 2019. The project involves a new fire suppression system, utility wall power upgrades, and new floor tiles throughout the kitchen and training areas. After 31 years, these infrastructure improvements are long overdue.
But the budget doesn’t include funds for new equipment, and that is where you come in.
Old equipment never works well within new infrastructure, yet that is what we are currently facing. After 20 years, the RTC kitchen equipment needs a $43,000 facelift, which is why we have launched the Culinary Arts Fund the Need campaign.
We need your help to fund the following kitchen equipment.
- One 12-burner RANGE
- One 6-burner RANGE
- One Gas Fryer
- One Gas Convection OVEN
- One Stock Pot RANGE
Your gifts through the RTC Foundation are tax-deductible, and donations can be made easily and securely through our online portal here. Just select “Culinary Fund the Need” in the drop-down menu to ensure RTC’s culinary students get the industry-standard training and experience they need.
As a Fund the Need participant, you will be recognized on the Culinary Arts donor wall, so our students and faculty can see how the community came together to make sure they had the best training possible to reach their professional and education goals.
“This project is an excellent example of state, local and Foundation support working together to upgrade a student learning area to industry standards.”
~ Doug Medbury, Dean of Culinary Arts
RTC culinary students continue to shine at regional competitions and earn the respect and support of national organizations like the prestigious Chaine des Rotisseurs and Les Dames d’Escoffier. The College’s award-winning catering department is known throughout the community for providing exceptional service and culinary creations. We all benefit from these upgrades.
Let’s make Summer 2019 the summer of “kitchen love” with new equipment!
